Pete did not dissapoint me this year (compared to last year’s disaster in Swenson, an ice cream parlour in the mall filled with screaming kids and papier mache hearts). With a little help (and me making the reservations) we had our valentines meal at Spaghetinni in Empire, a five star hotel by a beautiful beach.
It was a tad pricey but we haven’t had the time to go out for a meal for such a long time that it was worth it.. plus it was a scrumptious SIX course dinner that took us TWO hours to complete!! I made a point to take pictures of each entree to make you drool…. ( I forgot to take note of the names of the dishes so I am gonna make them up as I go along….)
First Entree.. Raw tuna slices with rocket and fried cheddar..

I did like this although Pete found the combination of tuna and cheese a bit strange!
Second course : A seafood broth with ONE ravioli (soggy pillow as Pete’s mum calls it)

The ravioli was filled with cheese and under the soggy pillow were little shrimps and clams. Very tasty!
3rd Course: (Ooohhh my favourite) Tiger prawns, scallops on a bed of greens and asparagus….

Oh this was toe curling delicious.. I am a hardcore seafood lover and the scallops and prawns were cooked to perfection…. YUMMY!!
As we were tucking into this course, two guitarist came very close to our table and started singing a whole medley of OLD English, Malay and Tagalog songs… They were very entertaining and added a great element to a very romantic evening!

Fourth Course: Rasberry Sherbert

This was a tad too tart for me but Pete LOVED it.. He laughed at me the whole time I was eating mine because I could not stop making sour faces at every spoonful..
5th Course: The HIGHLIGHT of the meal, Victorian Lambchops with olive gnochi and veg

Oh my goodness, I will have pleasant dreams about this dish, the lamb was beautifully pink and tender! I am not a big fan of olives so I gave my Gnocchi to Pete who adores them. There was hardly any conversation between us when we ate this, just yums and other noises of pleasure… Must learn how to make lamb this perfect!
The DESSERT: Chocolate and Rasberry Mousse

This was beautifully presented but Pete and I were far too full to finish this.. The chocolate mousse was delicious but my love being sweet said mine was better!! Hehehe.. Didnt really like the rasberry mousse, there was something odd about the texture..
All in all, it was a lovely evening. After the meal, we had a long romantic walk at the beach and talked about nothing in particular. It was wonderful to have sometime to ourselves, we lead such busy lives that very often we forget to appreciate the fact that we have eachother. Thank you for a wonderful evening my love, it’s a date one year from now!

Happy Valentines Day Everyone!
