Bubbles always sleeps next to my pillow every night since we got her almost ten years ago. I woke up this morning to find her in this cutest little pose and I knew today was going to be a great day
!
( She also snores)
When we came back from England, I noticed Bubbles’ bottom half was terribly knotted as she was not groomed by the friend who was looking after her but her front bit was fine. If it was another cat, I would have brought her to the vet and asked him to groom her but Bubbles have a serious aversion to the Vets. She cries like a banshee in the car and when she gets to the clinic, she will hiss, claw and look so panic stricken that I didnt have the heart to put her through it.
Every night Bubbles would curl up next to my pillow and she will stay there until morning. After an unsuccessful hour of trying to comb her knots out, I decided it would be less painful to just cut the bits that were knotted off while she sleeps but as I felt my way through the knots, only then did I realise how terribly knotted her fur was! It was a gigantic clump so close to her skin that I used a torch light to make sure I didnt cut into her and I only did a few centimetres a day.
After three weeks of nightly clipping, I finally cut all the knotted bits out.. only then did I realise how funny Bubbles looked! Her front half was still fluffy but her back side looked like it belonged to a short haired cat. She did so resemble a lion… though Pete likes to describe it more like a Hyena… humpfh!
Okay, she doesnt look very happy in the photos but she must be more comfortable now that all her knots are gone! You can laugh now
Two weeks ago, Toulouse showed the same symptoms of a UTI infection and we rushed him to the vets as soon as we could. It was the same story as before , the vet put a catheter in and we hoped he would make a speedy recovery like last time.
However, this time we were not so lucky. Three days after his operation, he still refused to eat. We took him home hoping that familiar surroundings might kick start his appetite and we also had to force feed him every night. Two days later, Pete found him in a semi conscious state while I was at work and rushed him to the vets where he was put on IV drips. He is still there.
We visit him everyday after work. My birthday was last Sunday and as an afterthought, I brought over some boiled prawns with the faint hope he might be interested. He wasn’t that time but he seemed much livelier and insisted on sitting on our laps for a good hour. Monday morning,I had a text message from the vets who said Toulouse loved the prawns and if I could bring over some more. We were over the moon!!
We brought Murphy, our black and white tom for a visit. Toulouse seemed happier to have Murphy there so we let Murphy stay the night. We went to visit Toulouse again today and he has taken a turn for the worse. He is refusing to eat again and needs to go back on IVdrips. He also has a fever.
So we took Murphy home as we were afraid Murphy might be lonely with Toulouse now confined to a cage. He hasn’t touched the big container of prawns we brought over.
I know people wonder why we are spending so much time, money and effort on JUST a cat. The thing is, he is NOT just a cat. We have had him since he was a kitten, we watched him grow and we love him dearly. He makes us laugh and he gives us so much love, much more than some humans have given. He is a huge part of our little family and God willing, we will keep up the fight to make him better. At any cost.
Anyway, here is the picture I took of him on my birthday.
We noticed this morning that Toulouse’s ears were very warm and he was meowing quite loudly. He kept climbing into the laundry basket and looked quite ill. I was worried and called around to find a vet open on a Sunday. No luck with Petlink but Angel Vets were open until 1pm! It was 12.10pm and we rushed him over.
Turns out his urinary tract is blocked, he had an operation this afternoon and needs to stay at the vet for a few days. Pete and I are worried sick and I think the other cats can sense we are upset so they are staying close by. Please spare a small thought for my Toulouse and hope that he will be alright.
Hello world!!
Will freely admit life was hard without Pete for the last ten months. it wasn’t so much work or family obligations but more the lonely days and nights without him just made everything so much harder. I do apologize for my absence but didn’t really have the motivation or the passion to bake or blog..
But now Pete is back!! He has completed his Msc and is slowly getting use to life in Brunei. It is so true that you truly appreciate someone when they have gone. Everyday is full of joy again! Menial tasks like washing the dishes is fun especially when Pete is there to have a water fight with. We are spending a lot of time together before he starts work and with so much time together, we are falling in love all over again.
So now, I am back and will make regular entries in my blog so I hope you will comeback to me dear readers! I have missed you terribly!!
Anyway, back to the business of baking…
My nephew had his second birthday a few months ago and my sister wanted me to design TWO cakes (it is his second birthday) for that special day and this is what I came up with.. base cakes are from Le Apple but I did the decorations.
Here is an adorable picture of Adam with his cakes.
Whoops, can’t really see cakes in this picture… oh well
I did this order of cupcakes a few months ago, it was such an unusual request that I had to put this in! The client requested a ‘MONKEY NERD’ theme?? After a few panicked phone calls, found out that it meant a monkey with spectacles! Hehehehe…
Decided to put in a few bananas in different stages of unpeeling and this is what I came up with..
Before I log off, I must share some terribly adorable photos of Toulouse and Murphy! Enjoy!!
STEP ONE
Plant seed of cat in pot, water with milk and and tuna and milk tidbits as fertiliser…

Your cat in the pot is now ready for picking!! Please handle with care and lots of love!!

Don’t get me wrong, I love going on holiday. We haven’t been home to UK for three years now and a visit is overdue. I have bought all the Christmas presents and have begun to pack for the three weeks but I can’t get over how much I am going to miss my cats… We have made arrangements for a house sitter to stay with them while we are away, we even bought twenty cans of tuna so that they could get a treat everyday, dad promised to play with them when he visits and so will Dodie… But I can’t help worrying.. What if Midnight gets trapped in the airing cupboard, Toulouse falls into the aquarium, Lullabee gets a plastic bag round her neck, Bubbles gets trapped outside on the balcony and Murphy gets a claw stuck on the mattress??? All of these things have happened before and I was always there to rescue them!
This must be how a mother feels when they leave their babies, I know I am not a mother yet but these cats are very important to me.. I would die if anything happens to them. *Worry worry*
So I am kind of dreading leaving my babies behind, believe me, I will be one of those weirdos who leaves voice messages on the phone and leave the tv on hoping that it would comfort her cats… Could I just take one on the plane??
Okay okay…. no way around it… I am now going to post some pics of my babies so that I could see them when I am in UK in a few days time…. *sigh*

Missing you cats already!!
Here is a lovely picture of Midnight and Murphy sleeping together. It is so adorable that they are face to face and four paws touching each other… awwww…

Pete made a home made scratching post a few weeks back and the cats haven’t figured out what to do with it yet so we doused it with catnip. Toulouse decided that it works best as a base while he does his best Super man impersonations.. It took him awhile to balance on the tiny ledge but when he did, the results were hilarious!!

Up up and Awwwaaaaaayyyy!!

Is that the sounds of a tuna can being opened in the flat downstairs??

Super Toulouse very tired now… zzzzzzzzzz…….
